Wild Goose Release!

I am thrilled to announce the release of Wild Goose, the 8th picture book in the Goose series! I will be holding a number of events and signings to celebrate this.

I will be at Drakes Circus Waterstones in Plymouth on Saturday 29th April, where I will have readings at 12pm and 2pm and leading activities in-between.

After the success of last years launch, the Eden Project have also asked us back for a book event on Saturday 6th May!

Watch this space for more events or visit for lots more information and to buy your book.

You can also visit me at my gallery and get your signed copy from 6th April.

Wild Goose is all about Sophie, Goose and their two friends, Ben and Tess’ exploration of the outdoors. They follow nature trails and encounter mini beasts, finding wild treasures on their way. But when it’s time to go home, Goose is sad. What will the children do with all the wild treasure they’ve found to cheer Goose up?

Exhibition and book signing with the Alnwick Gallery!

I am very pleased to be working and exhibiting with Claire at the Alnwick Gallery in Northumberland. It has been quite a while since I have exhibited new originals outside my home county of Devon, I have truly enjoyed researching and painting the beautiful Northumberland coast and I really look forward to seeing these places with my own eyes during my visit. My schedule is so busy these days so it will be nice to have some time away, It will be great to work and meet new customers but to also enjoy some down time walking and soaking up the coastline!

I will be at the Alnwick Gallery on the 26th of November. I will be doing book readings, signing books and dedicating artwork throughout the day. For those nearby or fancy a trip please do come along and say hello!

Venus National Awards!

I am so thrilled to say that on 7th July I won the National Award for Entrepreneur of the Year!

The Venus Awards are all about celebrating Women in Business, and the day certainly did that. Hosted by Tara Howard at Audley Wood hotel, in Basingstoke, the day started with drinks on the lawn and music played by saxophonist, Dave Sanders.

There were 20 Awards to give out throughout the day, and my one was second to last…. we had a three course meal to get through and I must admit I was so nervous I struggled! However when my name was called it was utterly surreal! I made a rather flustered speech as I was so overwhelmed, it was so wonderful to have so much support and people routing for me.

Venus National Finals

So next week is the National Finals for the Venus Women Awards. The award I am up for is Entrepreneur of the Year, I can’t say how thrilled I am to be recognised for my business head, it’s lovely for someone to see the work that has gone into my business. As much as I’d love to say all I do is paint all day, there has been lots of things behind the scenes – trips to London for meetings, contracts to negotiate, 14 hour days working in the gallery and from home, however it has all been in aid of growing Goose and my fine art series Love at the Seaside. And how exciting it all is! Goose is now having a pilot created with King Rollo Films and will be pitched to broadcasters over the summer, the books are now in 40 countries and 13 languages and Fluid World (company behind Hello Kitty) have signed Goose with the aim of creating merchandise for major retailers.  Love at the Seaside has a strong following too, with a sell out solo show of 20 originals this year in my very own gallery. I feel very blessed and excited to see what the future holds. Whether I win or not I know I have had so much support from my customers, followers, and family, particularly husband Dave Butt, who is the ultimate wingman – I wouldn’t be doing all these lovely things without that support.

As I won the Devon Entrepreneur of the Year, I am now up against the other counties in this category, so do think of me on 7th July! Can you also believe there are two artists in the finals this year in Devon? Amazing artist and friend Becky Bettesworth, is up for Business Mother of the Year too!  It just shows what a creative place Devon is, and how it is possible to be creative and run a business. Thanks to all you lovely supporters 🙂

Goose’s Birthday and Book Launch

On June 24th Goose was 4 years old! To celebrate we held a party in the gallery on Sunday for all the local children to come and say happy birthday to Goose.

Birthday cake!

All the children got to sing happy birthday to Goose!

There were also book readings throughout the day from the latest book Goose at the Beach, we laid out blankets and cushions on the floor and the children would settle in to enjoy a story together.

Private Viewing of Originals at my Gallery

Friday night heralded the opening of my annual exhibition showing original artwork from my series Love at the Seaside, and originals from my latest book, Goose at the Beach. A private viewing was held for collectors of my work, which included images of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish. Doors opened at 6.30 and within minutes the gallery was filled with people! I am absolutely thrilled to say within the 2 hour show all 20 originals sold.

Due to the high demand a selection of local scenes from the Love at the Seaside collection were available through sealed bid only. As well as those who attended on the night, phone bids and emails came in from around the world to buy the artwork. It was really overwhelming, and Dave (my husband) had so many people wanting his attention in order to buy that he looked a bit frazzled during the rush! We felt truly blessed and loved the buzz and atmosphere in the gallery. We want to thank all those who came to support us, it was a really fun evening!

One of the paintings under sealed bid had a bit of fun around it; a painting of the Teignmouth and Sheldon ferry boat. There was no reserve on it and 50% of the sale was given to the RNLI. Sir Andrew Ridgeway and his wife Valerie are the proud owners of the piece.

But the weekend didn’t stop there! On Sunday my latest book Goose at the Beach was released! See the next blog post for news about Goose’s book launch and birthday party in the gallery!
