I am absolutely thrilled to announce I am leading an art retreat in Essouria, Morocco in May 2027. I adore Morocco, it is such a vibrant and colourful place and I couldn't think of anywhere better host an art retreat. I have teamed up with Tedrart an amazing company who specilaise in art retreats.

My aim is to help guide you to develop your own artistic skills over the course of a week, so that you will become confident painting plein air.

Workshop Outline

Using pen and watercolour, my workshops will focus on capturing light, discovering vibrant colours in a landscape, and communicating the essence of a place.

• Observe a scene carefully and identify the most important elements.
• Create strong, balanced, and compelling compositions.
• Capture details quickly without getting overwhelmed.
• Develop a loose, expressive style in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

I will also guide you on:

• How to tell the story of a place through line, light, and composition.
• Techniques to bring life and movement into your paintings.
• Using masking fluid, shadows, highlights, and adding pastels to enhance texture and light.

These techniques can be applied to nearly any landscape and will provide practical tools you can continue using long after the workshop.
