What's In My Plein Air Artist's Bag?

Many people ask me what I take with me when I am painting plein air. Here are all the main items I have in my bag:

• My hand can sometimes hurt with so much drawing, so I use pencils with a grip edge - Staedtler pencils 
• Once I have pencilled my work I line them with waterproof pens - I use Staedtler Pigment Liners
• I always use Canson A5 Art Book for plein air painting, the paper quality is fantastic.
• Water carrier for my watercolours - it has to be my Laura Wall Flask!
• Cass Art Professional Travel Watercolours have fantastic colours in them, but are on the pricey end.
• If you want something more budget Cotman Travel Watercolours are great for beginners. 
• To mix my colours, I use twin water pots, one side for cool colours, the other for warm. This can clip onto your palette or sit on its own. The clip is a bit annoying as it doesn't sit completely  flat, but I am yet to find an alternative!
• Proarte Watercolour Brushes are really good for the price. Throw in some sable Winsor and Newton brushes once you are more confident and want to spend bigger.
• To create light reflections on the water I mask areas first. I love Schminke Masking Fluid Pen - I use the coloured version of this so I can see it on the paper. 
• For highlights I use Jacksons White Soft pastel
• To keep all these supplies in I use my Laura Wall pencil case!
• Sit mat, I use Poppy Trefrry, or you could use one of my Laura Wall towels! 
• If you want a pretty bag then I suggest my Coastal Bloom shoulder bag!
